The Colorado Music Festival & Center for Musical Arts (CMF & CMA) combines a six-week mostly classical music festival, presented at Chautauqua Auditorium, with a year-round community music school, located in Lafayette. We are seeking a PT (20 hrs/wk) intern with an interest in music education to help support our summer music education programs at our school.

The responsibilities of the music education (ME) intern are many and varied, and will require flexibility, good humor, energy, and responsiveness to the many needs of faculty, staff, and program participants. The 2013 ME Intern projects may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Summer Camps Assistance

Meet the Instruments Camp – June 3-6 Suzuki Violin/viola camp – June 17-21

Bluegrass Camp – June 10-14 Songwriting Camp – June 10-14

Fiddle Camp – June 24-28 Broadway Camp – July 1-3 and July 8-12

Harp Camp – July 8-12

Duties will include:

Assist with distribution, collection, and tracking of camp registrations and related communication

Assist with check-in and check-out each day

Prepare and distribute snacks

Assist Camp faculty in various ways including participant supervision.

Other Summer Programs Assistance

Community Play-in Prep Rehearsals – assist in setup, check-in, refreshments, break down.

Family Fun Concerts – assist with setup, ticketing, and front of house

Early Childhood programs – assist with setup, check-in, and breakdown

Support end of summer recitals and performances
Instrument Bank

Organize, locate, catalog, and label all returning instruments

With faculty help, assess quality and repair status

Track instruments going out and coming back from repair

With staff, help develop and implement plans for improved instrument storage

Qualifications: Friendly, organized, and detail oriented, with a strong commitment to music and/or music education; computer competency, including all MS Office suite programs (especially word and excel); ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; demonstrated capacity to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

2013 Stipend: $1,500

Internship Dates: June 1 – July 31, 2013

SUMMER FESTIVAL INTERN POSITION DESCRIPTION

Summer 2013

The Colorado Music Festival (www.COmusic.org) presents six weeks of concerts at Chautauqua Auditorium from June 29 through August 9. The core concerts (Sun. Th., and Fri. evenings) are classical orchestral programs, and our Tuesday series features world music ensembles and chamber music at eTown Hall.

The responsibilities of a CMF intern are many and varied, and will require flexibility, good humor, energy, and responsiveness to the many needs of our summer music festival. Interns are likely to have contact with CMF staff, board members, donors, ticket buyers, and professional musicians from across the U.S. and abroad who come to Boulder to perform with the Festival.

The 2013 Intern projects may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Events Support

• Provide support and assistance to the CMF Development Director to implement various events for sponsors, donors, subscribers, etc., throughout the CMF season.
• Pre-concert event support including the Opening Night picnic and the Music Mash-up concert series.
• Coordinating guest artist hospitality.
  

Marketing Support

• Provide support and assistance to the CMF Marketing Director to manage promotional programs to advertise concerts and events.
• Helping with electronic marketing efforts including website updates, online calendar listings and email newsletters.
• Helping with pre-concert power points.
• Create and distribute promotional materials

Other Responsibilities

• Assist with transportation of festival guest artists.
• Assist the CMF Music Librarian with the collection, copying, and distribution of music to CMF musicians (not more than 10 hrs/wk).
• Assist with the delivery of collateral materials, sign placement and banner coordination, and other tasks as necessary.
• Compile evaluations and survey results.

Qualifications: Computer competency (Microsoft Office including excel and power point, photoshop a plus), ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, work independently and as part of a team, capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Knowledge of music a plus!

2013 Stipend: $2,500
