Who are The Friends? The Friends are a volunteer auxiliary, dedicated to providing fundraising and service support to the Colorado Music Festival & Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts. There are numerous opportunities to volunteer:

  • Hosting Guest Artists and Musicians
  •  Transporting CMF Guest Artists to and from DIA
  • The Festival of Dinners
  • The Young People’s Concerts
  • Closing Reception
  •  The Feast for the Senses
  •  Crescendo

Volunteering for these events is a great way to share your skills with the community, and it offers the opportunity to get to know people who share your love of music. People sometimes ask why they must pay a membership fee to belong to a volunteer organization. The answer is simply that in order to make money, you must spend money. The Friends pay all of their own expenses. Membership fees are used, for example, to pay for printing and mailing expenses; for furnishing apartments for musicians, plus thank-you gifts to them as well as the school faculty. Money from dues not used for expenses is donated to the Music Festival. Last season, the Festival of Dinners, one of our organization’s largest fundraisers, raised more than $50,000. Your Friends dues are tax-deductible, an indirect donation to the CMF & RMCMA, and a small investment in a much larger return.
